H.E. Ambassador Ouyang Yujing Visits Xiamen University Malaysia


On 7 June 2022, H.E. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, visited Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), accompanied by Education Counsellor Mr. Zhao Changtao and other members of the embassy staff.

During his meeting with XMUM President Prof. Wang Ruifang and staff representatives, Ambassador Ouyang enquired about the latest development of XMUM in terms of teaching, research, innovation, cooperation and exchange, etc., and acknowledged the progress made by the university thus far. “As the first overseas campus established by a renowned Chinese university, Xiamen University Malaysia has provided valuable experience for China’s higher education sector going global and made positive contribution to education and people-to-people exchanges between China and Malaysia,” said Ambassador Ouyang. In the post-pandemic period, he encouraged XMUM to strive for greater success in research and innovation, further enrich its programme offering, and nurture high-quality talents with global outlook.

On behalf of the university, President Wang Ruifang warmly welcomed Ambassador Ouyang for the visit. He pledged that XMUM would continue to carry on the legacy and tradition of Xiamen University, pursue excellence in both teaching and research, and nurture young talents that would make contribution to the prosperity of Malaysia and China and the further strengthening of Sino-Malaysian friendship.

Accompanied by President Wang, Ambassador Ouyang toured the campus, inspected the teaching and research facilities, and had a lively exchange with representatives of XMUM students.
