XMUM Researchers Among World’s Top 2% Scientists

Three academics of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) are selected as the World’s Top 2% Scientist by Stanford University, namely, Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun (School of Energy & Chemical Engineering), Prof. Zheng Jincheng (Director of Innovation Center), and Prof. Huang Nay Ming (Head of Department of New Energy Science and Engineering). All of them are among both “2019 Single Year World’s Top 2% Scientists” and “Career-long World’s Top 2% Scientists” in their respective field. Congratulations!

Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun

Dr. Ong Wee Jun is an Associate Professor at XMUM School of Energy and Chemical Engineering. Dr. Ong obtained his B. Eng. in 2012 and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2016 both from Monash University. Before joining XMUM in 2018, he worked at the Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) for two years. He was awarded Highly Cited Researcher in 2019 and 2020 by Web of Science Group. With an H-index of 42 (based on Web of Science), Dr. Ong has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles in SCI journals with a total citation of over 9000.   

Prof. Zheng Jincheng

Prof. Zheng Jincheng is honored as a Distinguish Professor of Minjiang Scholar’s Program at Xiamen University (China) in view of his contribution and commitment to Physics and Energy. Currently the Director of Innovation Center and Director of Institute of Artificial Intelligence at XMUM, he has supervised over 20 postgraduate students to date. With an H-index of 37 (based on Web of Science), Prof. Zheng has published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles in SCI journals with a total citation of over 4000.  

Prof. Huang Nay Ming

Prof. Huang Nay Ming is a Professor at the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, XMUM. Prof. Huang obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2009 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He worked as an Assistant Professor in Department of Physics, University of Malaya before joining XMUM in 2017. Prof. Huang received Malaysia’s Rising Star Award in 2016 and Private Education Excellence Awards in 2019. With an H-index of 55 (based on Web of Science), Prof. Huang has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles in SCI journals with a total citation of over 9000.

World’s Top 2% Scientists is a list compiled by Stanford University and published in PLOS Biology Journal. The list includes about 160,000 scientists from all over the world. The Top 2% 2019 is based on the academics’ scientific achievements measured by the bibliometric index. The evaluation criteria include the H-index, the impact factor, total citations (including self-citations), co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, etc.
