XMU Alumni Donates RMB 200,000 for XMUM Campus Landscape Enhancement

Xiamen University (XMU) alumni and former faculty member Prof. Lu Changyi donated RMB 200,000 (approximately USD 31,011) to Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) for its campus landscape enhancement.

This is a present to XMU’s Centennial and a token of gratitude to my alma mater, said Prof. Lu.

Prof. Lu has named two pavilions of XMUM, encouraging XMUM faculty to pursue academic excellence and its students to study hard. The name plaques will be presented to XMUM as gifts for its 5th anniversary.

During a visit to XMUM in 2019, Prof. Lu was deeply impressed by the passion and hard work of the University’s pioneering staff and students. He was inspired to do his bit to make XMUM a better place.

“As suggested by the media, XMUM is indeed a ‘pearl’ along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.”

Prof. Lu was admitted into XMU as an undergraduate student in 1965 and has taught at XMU College of Environment & Ecology for over 40 years. As a State Council special allowance expert, he has received a variety of prizes for his outstanding achievements in teaching and scientific research throughout the past years.

Currently, he serves as the Dean of the School of Environmental Science & Engineering, Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College.

Though in his seventies, Prof. Lu still works on the frontline of teaching and scientific research. Social responsibility is essential for an academic,  says Prof. Lu, I hope I can continue to make contribution to my alma mater in the next few years.
