Dr. Mahdi H. Miraz Publishes in Top SCI Journal in Computer Science

The Research Management Centre congratulates Assistant Professor Dr. Mahdi H. Miraz from the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), for publishing a research article in Computer Science Review (COSREV) as the first and the corresponding author.

Entitled “Adaptive User Interfaces and Universal Usability through Plasticity of User Interface Design”, the paper was published online on 3rd February 2021.

COSREV is an internationally renowned SCI Tier-1 journal with an impact factor of 7.707 and Cite Score of 14.7. Published by Elsevier B. V., it possesses the highest impact factor amongst all the journals in the category of computer science (software engineering) indexed in SCI, ranking 1/108.

Other co-authors of the paper include Dr. Maaruf Ali from Epoka University, Albania and the late Prof. Peter S. Excell, former Vice Chancellor of Wrexham Glyndŵr University, UK.

The authors stated the significance of the work in the article:

“The foundations of adaptive or intelligent user interfaces (AUI or IUI) are presented, three core domains being focused upon: Artificial Intelligence (AI), User Modelling (UM) and Human–Computer Interaction (HCI). For comparison of the various AUIs, a proposed taxonomy is given. One conclusion is that an efficient training vector for fast optimal convergence of the machine-learning algorithm is a necessity, but key to this is the bounding of the dataset, the goal being to achieve an accurate user preference model, which has to be built from a limited number of datasets obtained from the human interaction. More research also needs to be conducted to ascertain the usefulness and effectiveness of IUIs compared against AUIs.”
