Newcastle University Business School Signs MoA with XMUM


Newcastle University Business School (NUBS) signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) on 24 July 2019 in the presence of NUBS Director, Prof. Sharon Mavin and XMUM Assistant President, Associate Professor Dr. Zhang Ying. The signing ceremony was witness by NUBS team as well as the Dean and Assistant Dean of XMUM School of Economic and Management. 

In the agreement, it was stated that:

1. Student with an average GPA of 3.0 and above will be considered for admission into NUBS programmes.

2. A maximum of 5 students will be selected to be admitted into each NUBS programme.                               

After the signing ceremony, student was given a brief introduction to Newcastle University by Ms Sarah Beech, International Recruitment Manager of the University, and a lecture by Prof. Sharon Mavin. According to Ms Beech, Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship will be available each year, ranging from £1,500 to 100% tuition fee deductions. Students who have achieved a score of IELTS 7.5 or equivalent will be considered for a Business School English Language Excellence Scholarship of £5,000 tuition fee deduction. 

The topic of Prof. Mavin’s lecture is “Business and Leadership Challenges in The Future of Work”. In the lecture, she shared her views on how the business world has changed overtime due to technology changes. At the end of the lecture, Prof. Mavin mentioned that no matter how much technology replaces the working world, there are still work which requires human effort that cannot be replaced by technology.
